- In detail
Conventional Soda Pulping (i.e. using caustic soda alone) results in lower pulp yield and poor strength properties. C.A. is used as an additive to overcome the problem. This is applicable for all grade paper pulping. Alike sulphate pulping, it gives the same performance of sulphidity. Benefit: It reduces caustic consumption on kg to kg basis or more depending on raw material variable. It effects homogenous cooking giving yield benefit. So direct and indirect economy is remarkable. Dosing: 0.3 to 0.4 on A.D. chips I.E. 5 MT. raw chips may require 15 to 20 kg. cook aid replacing same quantity caustic or more on solid basis. It is to be added directly in digester during caustic taking. Point to Note: It will act independently and does not interfere with any other chemicals. It has unlimited self life and has no handling hazards. It is powdery and is available in 50 kg. packing. Its Ph values is 9.5 i.e. alkaline & So it has no scaling effect. Precaution: Not more than 25 kg. Aid should be used per batch to avoid shade variation. So to start with, 10 to 15 kg. Aid may be added replacing double the quantity of caustic lye (70% cone.) i.e. 10 kg. Aid=20 kg. Lye=14 kg. caustic (solid). Dosing may be increased gradually with same ratio of replacement after careful observation of end product. Condition may vary from mill to mill for different parameters. Packing: 50 kg. Plastic B^g-.
